The Silver Beetles have an audition on May 10th 1960. Thanks to this audition, they are chosen to back Johnny Gentle on stage for seven shows in May. Most of the Silver Beetles are now under the management of Allan Williams (who will send them to Hamburg later on).

Tommy Moore quits The Silver Beetles on 13rd June 1960.

The Beatles

 

Peter Best joins the group who christen themselves The Beatles for the first time.
They have their first trip to Hamburg (Indra Club, The Kaiserkeller and The Top Ten Club) on August 1960.

Line-up: John Lennon (vocal, guitar), Paul McCartney (vocal, guitar, piano), George Harrison (vocal, guitar), Stuart Sutcliffe (bass), Pete Best (drums)

Amateur record: Summertime (Gershwin) recorded in October by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Ringo Starr and Walter Eymond.

December 1960
The Beatles

 

The Beatles are finally deported from Germany. They return to Liverpool without Stuart Sutcliffe who stays in Hamburg and who is now replaced by Chas Newby at the bass.

New line-up: John Lennon (vocal, guitar), Paul McCartney (vocal, guitar, piano), George Harrison (vocal, guitar), Chas Newby (bass), Pete Best (drums).
